ANXIETY

ABOUT

What We Do

We navigate life's anxieties and disordered systems together. Through yoga, we return to a balanced state and our bodies return to homeostasis. Anxiety is an alert to imbalance. The disorders are the systems of oppression in which we live and die. It is through our practices, we reclaim our resilience and inner strength.

UNWIND

To unwind, we explore gentle yoga poses that are accessible for all levels and all bodies. We gently open and stretch the body through conscious, mindful movements. Unwinding sessions are low-intensity, emphasizing stretching, seated poses, and low-impact movements.

RECOVER

Recover sessions help to restore flexibility and range of motion after an injury. We strengthen and realign bodies to improve balance, lowering the chance of falls, and encouraging independence in daily activities. To support recovery, a gentle practice is tailored for each client.

RESTORE

Restorative yoga is gentle, slow and includes long, passive holds in a series of supported postures. Props support the body and enhance alignment while your muscles relax and your heart rate slows. Restorative yoga helps to balance the mind and body, and releases tension.

The Yoga of Whiteness

Learn how yoga and whiteness became synonymous in the West.

The problem isn't whiteness itself—the problem is that whiteness can dominate the space. White bodies have become the default representation of "perfect" postures. This assumes complete authority and entitlement, leaving little room for others to have different experiences.

I am committed to the practice of yoga for anxiety because it works. Nothing's more effective, liberating, or healing.

Real Experiences.

“Amazing experience! I booked several yoga sessions with Avenelle.  I am a beginner and have not had much experience with yoga. She was very attentive, and great at ensuring proper alignment in each poses.“

Alondra K.

Real People.

“Avenelle offered me some great ways to deal with my anxiety. A surprisingly great tool was a sandbag. I placed the sandbag on my hips right before bed. And my sleep was much deeper with fewer interruptions. I'm quite thankful for these tools!”

AMINIKA R.

Real Life.

"Driving has always given me anxiety. Now, when I’m driving and I find myself anxious and gripping the steering wheel, I can hear Avenelle telling me to take slow deep breaths and to relax my grip. Now, I’m able to be in the moment, calm my anxiety, and actually enjoy the drive."
